Mackillop Centre for Social Justice

The Centre works on developing a poverty reduction strategy for PEI which addresses the root causes of poverty, based on province-wide consultations with low-income and other citizens.  The strategy is based on a democratic process, respect for cultural diversity and aims to build a green and sustainable economy.

According Mary Boyd, director of the Mackillop Centre for Social Justice, a report recently published in 2015, indicates that the poverty level in PEI has reached 17.5%. This demands decisive action on the part of government.  A copy of the report is available from the PSAC Social Justice Fund at cassell@psac-afpc.com.
