Fact Finding Mission to Investigate the Killings and Repression of Public Sector Workers in the Philippines

Rally in Manila.

The Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE), the largest national central of public workers in the Philippines, invited the PSAC to take part in a fact finding mission in July 2013.

The mission, organized in partnership with CUPE, aimed to investigate the killings and repression of public sector workers, union and human rights activists.

Sister Elaine Habib, CEIU member from the NCR, agreed to participate in the mission and human rights conference which followed. Her testimony underlines the fact that the Philippines is one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be a trade unionist. The SJF continues to monitor and to provide support to human and labour rights activists in the country.
